Learn how the site became a key military asset, hear the dramatic account of its bombing by the German Luftwaffe, and discover the tragic story of the Dakota aircraft crash that left a lasting mark on the local community.

The tour also explores the Cold War years, when the site evolved into a radar bunker before later being converted into a civil defence control centre. Along the way, you’ll hear intriguing local stories, including the extraordinary account of servicemen recording an unidentified object travelling at nearly 1,000 mph.
