Bringing Isle of Wight History to Life

Bringing Isle of Wight History to Life At Restore the Story CIC

We’re passionate about sharing the fascinating heritage of the Isle of Wight — and Jo and Steve are available to give engaging talks to local heritage groups, societies, and community venues. With a deep interest in uncovering the Island’s hidden past, Jo and Steve have developed two specialist presentations that bring history vividly to life:

The Defences of Sandown Bay – From the 16th Century to the Modern Day Explore how Sandown Bay has been protected for over 400 years, from the days of Henry VIII’s coastal fortifications through to the Victorian Palmerston defences and beyond.

The Lost Buildings of the Isle of Wight (South East) A fascinating journey through time, rediscovering long-forgotten landmarks, grand houses, and once-important structures that have vanished from the landscape — but not from memory.

Jo and Steve have already delivered talks for several Island groups, including the Bembridge Heritage Society, St Helens Heritage Society, and Ventnor Heritage Centre, all to enthusiastic audiences.

Talks lasts around 60 to 90 minutes and is supported by a detailed PowerPoint presentation. All that’s required is a power source, projector, and screen — and a shared love of Island history. We don’t charge a fee for talks, but donations are gratefully accepted to support our ongoing research work, preserving and sharing local heritage.

If your group or venue would like to arrange a talk, please get in touch with Restore the Story CIC — we’d love to bring a piece of the Island’s story to you.

Spread the love
