Restoring Isle of Wight History & Heritage

Success at the Isle of Wight Walking Festival!

A Great Success at the Isle of Wight Walking Festival!
We were delighted to take part in this year’s Isle of Wight Walking Festival, leading two special heritage walks that proved to be a great success!

The first walk took place around St Boniface, where Steve and Jo shared fascinating stories about the Battle of Britain, local wartime aircraft crashes, and the Cold War Rotor bunker that once formed part of Britain’s secret defensive network. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and curiosity from everyone who joined us, with plenty of great questions and lively discussions along the way.

Our second walk explored Niton, focusing on its lost buildings — and others that, while not lost, have changed dramatically over time. Together, Steve and Jo brought the area’s architectural and social history to life, uncovering the stories behind these homes and the people who once lived there.

Both tours were very well received, with lots of interest, questions, and great feedback. We were delighted that so many people bought our booklets, took away information leaflets, and made generous donations — all of which will go towards furthering our research and future projects.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us — your support helps keep these stories alive.
