Steynewood Battery Tours Return for 2026

Following the success of our guided tours last year, Restore the Story CIC is delighted to confirm that tours of Steynewood Battery are returning for the 2026 season.

With the kind permission of the site’s owners, we were able to open Steynewood Battery for tours to the public in 2025, giving visitors a rare opportunity to explore this fascinating and often overlooked part of the Island’s victorian military heritage. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with tours selling well and feedback highlighting just how engaging and informative the experience was.

We would like to once again extend our sincere thanks to the owners for allowing us to run tours at Steynewood Battery. Their support made it possible for us to share the story of the site, its role in coastal defence, and its place within the wider historic landscape of the Island.

Building on that momentum, we are now looking ahead and are pleased to propose the following tour dates for 2026. As in the previous year, we plan to run two guided tours on each date:

Monday 6th April
Monday 4th May
Saturday 13th June
Saturday 11th July
Wednesday 12th August
Monday 31st August

Each tour will offer visitors the chance to step inside the battery, learn about its construction and operational history, and hear the stories that bring the site to life.

Tickets will be available soon, so please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for announcements. Based on last year’s demand, we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
